Cam Pha Thermal Power Plant

  • By year: 2007
  • By location: Northern Vietnam
  • By category: Thermal power plant
The plant is located near Cua Ong Coal Company’s coal exporting area in order to reduce transport fees and reduce environmental pollution, and will use low-quality coal dust and peat as material.

The 300MW plant, which is expected to produce 1.8 billion kWh of electricity annually when finished and join the national grid to serve socio-economic development, is the project of the Cam Pha Thermo Power Joint Stock Company and China’s Harbin Electricity Station Engineering Company.

The estimated cost of the plant is about US$285 million, accounting for 82 per cent of the whole project.

The main contractor Harbin Eletricity Station Engineering Company will build the plant in 36 months, and the supplementary contractor Foster Wheeler will provide and oversee the operation of the plant’s two boilers.
