Huoi Quang Hydropower Project is the first underground complex designed and constructed by Vietnamese consultant and contractors. It includes two 4.2km long, 7.5m internal diamter headrace tunnels and an underground powerhouse. It is also a large scale project of the hydropower cascade on Da River, ranking below Son La HPP (2400MW), Hoa Binh HPP (1920MW) and Lai Chau HPP (1200MW).

It is also a large scale project of the hydropower cascade on Da River, ranking below Son La HPP (2400MW), Hoa Binh HPP (1920MW) and Lai Chau HPP (1200MW).

Besides supplying an annual output of 1.9 billion kWh for national grid, the project objectives are water regulation for downstream Hong River delta, and a stimulus for socio-economic development of the North West region, especially for Lai Chau and Son La province.
